A-1 Discovering the Joy in Math

Roy Underhill

Enrich your life and your understanding of math and prevent or overcome the “I hate math” mentality by exploring ways math is as interesting, varied, and beautiful as art, music, and literature. Resources and activities that focus on the joy and beauty of math and delightful mathematicians including books, games, and activities for all ages, covering topics from basic computation to current research.

B-1 Homeschooling 3, 4, and 5 Year Olds

Pamela Roland

Why and how children learn best through homeschooling. Helping children learn from daily life and carefully selected resources and activities. The importance of play. Meeting kids’ and parents’ social needs. Disadvantages to formal preschool.

B-5 Parenting Your Child’s Heart: A Conservative Christian Perspective on Parenting Young Children

Cindy and Keith White

How do we measure our success as parents? Is it the parent’s job to train the child in order to achieve certain behavior goals? Should you train behavior or the heart of your child? What do we mean by heart? Helping our children examine why they are behaving a particular way is far more important (and time consuming) than simply criticizing the behavior. See C-8 for parenting teens.

D-3 Crafting With Kids-Beth and Ella Kaseman-Wold

Making crafting with kids more relaxed and satisfying for everyone. Balancing kids’ activity with opportunities for parents to be creative. How-to information and resources for (1) easy, relaxed, and creative ways to sew clothes, bags, etc. from cloth, felted wool, and recycled clothes; (2) needle felting little animals, balls, patches, etc.; (3) finger painting; and (4) bookmaking. Presenters are mother-daughter homeschoolers. NOT a hands-on workshop.

D-8 Living With Kids 24 Hours a Day

Susan Kaseman

Listening to kids and communicating effectively. Solving problems. Understanding what kids need and balancing the needs of kids and parents so daily life goes more smoothly. The importance of eye contact and focused attention. Finding joy in parenting.
